The Four Level Memorial Interchange Tee is a take on the classic Los Angeles souvenir shirt, this time for a city built around the automobile. The graphic features the Grim Reaper holding the Bill Keene Memorial Interchange with the deceptively cheerful greeting, “Welcome to Los Angeles.”
Strike Oil has long explored the mythology of LA car culture, the freedom of the open road, Route 66, and the romance of a city designed around driving. But that nostalgia exists alongside a less romantic reality. Los Angeles was built at car scale rather than human scale, leaving much of the city difficult and sometimes dangerous to experience on foot. The tee pushes back against that legacy, aligning with the spirit of Vision Zero and the idea that traffic deaths shouldn't simply be accepted as the cost of living in a car-dependent city.
Cut in our signature regular fit from heavyweight 100% cotton jersey, each shirt is pigment dyed, sun faded, and heavily distressed for the character of a vintage LA tourist tee that has survived a few too many trips down the freeway.
